A true local, the Chehalis apple was discovered near Chehalis, WA in the 1930s and was thought to have originated as a seedling from the Golden Delicious. It is a large, yellow dessert apple that is very sweet, similar to Golden Delicious but has a crispier texture. It was named as one of the top 24 apple varieties by members of the Seattle Tree Fruit Society.
