Named as one of the top 24 apple varieties by members of the Seattle Tree Fruit Society, the Honeycrisp apple requires no introduction due to its commercial popularity in North America. Its flavor is sweet but carries little complexity due in part to its low acidity. The Honeycrisp tree has relatively low vigor, which means that even when grafted on more vigorous rootstocks, it will remain smaller than other apple varieties grafted on the same type of rootstock. Honeycrisp requires good soil conditions to maximize growth and apple production. The apples keep well in storage.
